FAST Presents 2023 Annual Report: Collaboration as the driving force behind innovation in therapy development

Over the past year, FAST has focused on strengthening the ecosystem around therapy development. As an organisation that operates closely together with fieldparties, FAST acts as a facilitator of collaboration and mediator among stakeholders. Strengthening the ecosystem in which we operate is a priority for FAST, meanwhile embracing challenges and striving for increased international cooperation.

Central to our mission is the patient’s perspective, which drives all our effort. On one hand, we support innovators; on the other, we experiment with new solutions and collaboration models. This is always based on case based studies and in partnerships with fieldparties. FAST’s focus is on finding the right balance between innovative entrepreneurship and accessible, affordable care.

There are significant opportunities to innovate and accelerate therapy development in the following areas: drug repurposing, cell and gene therapy, medical isotopes, rare diseases, and infectious diseases. The 2023 Annual Report highlights various projects within these key areas.

This year, FAST will concentrate on further developing its guiding role for innovators. We are expanding our hub network and solidifying our international collaborations. Stay updated on FAST’s initiatives and progress by visiting fast.nl and subscribing to our newsletter.

Last year, FAST received recognition for its role through a parliamentary letter from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK), which underscored the necessity of the organisation. Recently, both ministries published a parliamentary letter on the Annual Report of FAST (in Dutch).
